Retries and delivery log
A delivery your server does not accept is tried again, up to four attempts in all. Every attempt is written to the endpoint's delivery log.
The schedule
| Attempt | When |
|---|---|
| 1 | As soon as the event happens |
| 2 | 10 minutes later |
| 3 | 2 hours later |
| 4 | 12 hours later, the last one |
What counts as a failure
- Any answer outside
2xx, redirects included. - No answer within 5 seconds, or no connection.
- An address that resolves to a private network: refused and logged, not retried.
Every attempt keeps the same X-ElB-Delivery id and the same created_at. If your server handled a delivery but answered late, it will see it again: ignore an id you already handled.
The delivery log
List deliveries returns each attempt, the status your server answered and how long it took, for 90 days. Failed deliveries also show on the API page of your El-B account.
