Introduction
How a payment works
A payment goes from a link to a confirmed transfer in a few steps. Your RIP is only shown to the sender once both descriptions of the deal match.
The steps
-
openYouCreate the payment with your payment information and send its link.
Event:payment.created -
negotiatingSenderOpens the link and describes the deal on their side, without seeing yours.
Event:payment.claimed -
arbitratingEl-BThe auditor compares the two descriptions.
Event:payment.status_changed -
approvedEl-BThe descriptions match. Your RIP is still hidden.
Event:payment.approved -
transfer_windowSenderSees your RIP and transfers in BaridiMob within 15 minutes.
Event:payment.transfer_started -
awaiting_confirmationSenderEnters the 12-digit transaction number from BaridiMob.
Event:payment.reference_submitted -
finalizedYouCheck your BaridiMob history, then confirm. The receipt is issued.
Event:payment.finalized
Other endings
blocked: the descriptions did not match, or the sender said you are not the person they negotiated with. Your RIP was never shown.expired: the transfer window ended without a transaction number. You can reopen it from the app.aborted: you cancelled the payment, or reported in the app that the transfer never arrived.
Every status is described in The payment object.
Through the API, or in the app
| Action | Where |
|---|---|
| Create, read, cancel a payment; confirm a transfer | API or app |
| Join a payment, describe the deal, enter the transaction number | The sender, in their browser |
| Report a transfer that never arrived, close with a different amount, reopen an expired window, report a problem | App only |
Credits
A payment's credits are set aside when it is created, charged when the sender enters the transaction number, and returned if the payment ends before that. If you do nothing once the number is in, the payment confirms itself after 72 hours; you are reminded before. The sender never pays anything to El-B.
A match between the two descriptions is not a guarantee. Confirm a transfer only after you see it in your BaridiMob history; it can take 24 to 48 hours to appear.
